“Get Your Lighting Towers Season-Ready with Trime North!"

Preparing for the lighting season:

With the shorter days approaching, it is time to get your lighting towers out of storage again and ready for a new lighting season. Proper maintenance now will save stress and time later when requests increase.

Some tips to make sure your Trime lighting towers are well prepared for the new season:

1. Engine maintenance

The motor is the heart of every lighting tower, so maintenance is essential. We always recommend using original OEM parts to ensure performance and longevity. Two key maintenance moments are:

  • After the first 50 hours of operation: Change the oil filter and engine oil. This removes any contaminants that may build up.
  • Every 500 running hours: A full service of the engine, including changing the fuel filters. The air filter may not need to be replaced at every service, depending on the operating environment.
2. Battery maintenance (for Solar/Hybrid mobile lighting towers)

For lighting towers from the HYBRID Line and SOLAR Line, it is important to keep the batteries in top condition:

  • HYBRIDE lighting towers: When the lighting towers are in storage, we recommend turning on the lighting tower once a month or connecting it to the mains power to keep the battery in top condition.
  • SOLAR lighting towers: If the SOLAR lighting towers are outside in storage, leave the main switch on the control panel on to allow the sun/light to keep the batteries full. Should the SOLAR lighting towers be in storage indoors, we recommend connecting the lighting tower to the mains once a month to keep the battery in top condition.
3. Mast maintenance

Before you can use the lighting tower again after a storage period, check the following:

  • Stretch the stabilizers and check for damage.
  • Check the mast: Allow the mast to extend fully and check that the steel cables and rollers move smoothly. Replace any damaged parts immediately. Lubricate the mast with WD40 or other light lubricant (no grease).
4. Generator maintenance

Check the condition and operation of the generator. This can prevent future problems and save costs:

  • Check the output voltage: It should be around 230V AC when there is no load on the unit. In case of deviations, our service team can help identify and solve problems.
5. Hydraulic System

The hydraulic system of the mobile lighting tower is relatively simple, but still requires regular maintenance:

  • Check for leaks: Ensure that the system functions properly when extending and retracting the mast. If the mast ‘sags’ or moves too slowly, there may be something wrong with the hydraulic valves or the hydraulic oil level.
6. External Maintenance and Bodywork

Check the condition of the body, chassis, and road transport parts. Also check the trailer lights and brakes :

  • Repair damage: Make sure all damage is repaired and give the unit a good wash before using it. This will prevent damage to the paintwork caused by chemicals.

By following these steps, you will ensure that your lighting towers are ready for use, whatever the conditions. Do you have any questions or need help? Our experienced team is always at your service! Call us on (0)85 021 82 55 for further assistance.
